White Flour Tortillas
Ingredients:
4 c flour
2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
4 T shortening (we used Morrell lard in the blue packaging)
1 1/2c water (approximate.)
Directions:
1. Heat a griddle or skillet on med-high heat. (Turn on before you start to make sure it is ready)
2. Combine dry ingredients in a medium size mixing bowl and cut in shortening. (We used our hands for this whole process.)
3. Make a well in the venter. Add water, a little at a time, and work mixture into dough. (It's a stiff dough)
4. Knead dough until smooth, cover and set aside for 10 minutes.
5. Form dough into balls the size of a large egg. Roll each ball of dough into a very, very thing circle.
6. Place each tortilla on griddle and cook for appx 1 minute on each side. (Tortilla should be lightly speckled.)
